SciFi Weekly news

In our weekly SciFi roundup segment, we have some exciting news:

  • The team that brought you "Taken" to the Scifi Channel is now working on a new miniseries project with a 2007 debut date. Details here

  • The new Dr Who finds a home in the USA TV market. And (shockingly) the SciFi channels picks it up. Expect it to debut in March 2006 (after the SciFi Fridays triplets end their seasons). On a related note, the DVD set for Dr Who will now be available in July instead of February, giving the SciFi channel the chance to get higher ratings Details here

  • Another 1984 movie? It is a possibility says Tim Robbins Details here

  • "Starbuck" to play a pilot (!) in an independent SF movie. Not a shocker, but talk about being typecast ;-) Details here

  • Eureka gearing up for the SciFi channel Details here

  • Claudia Black becames a full time member of Stargate SG-1 beginning with next season. Details here

  • More SciFi/Fantasy pilots okay'ed by CBS and NBC Details here

  • FX pays millions and millions for a 2009 (!) premiere of the new Superman movie. Now that's what I call planning ahead. Details here

  • The SciFi channel is also working on various other projects for 2006, including reality, documentaries, and scripted shows. Details here
