Great Day for Marriage Equality!
The California State Senate, in a historic vote Thursday, approved a bill legalizing same-sex marriages under state law. It is the first time a state legislative body in the United States has voluntarily voted to approve same-sex marriage. Vermont and Massachusetts issued marriage licenses to gays and lesbians only after court rulings.
