The weekly Sneazy Top 3!
In this week's Sneazy Top 3 (which rivals The Billboard Hot 100), we have some exciting old music :-) Without any further delays, here it is:
New Order, "Waiting for the Siren's call" (how gay is that?)
Starsailor, "Love is here"
Cranberries, "Wake up and smell the coffee", and bacon and eggs and donuts and muffins and croissants de buerre and danish and veggie patties and fake sausage links and green tea and earl gray tea and fruit salad
Just outside the Top 3, we have Starsailor and their latest CD (of a few years ago) "Silence is easy".

Comcast adding Logo!
Comcast just notified my cable box that they will be adding MTV's Logo TV channel on the "digital plus" digital cable package. This is great news as gay TV makes its way into more households! Go Comcast Go! LOL
Then the Chief Executive Bigot of the 700 Club started spinning his statements like a first year Political Science student of a local community college of the variety that hands you the exam and the exam answers at the same time.

Great news: Amazon joins the Citibank rewards program!
Great news for the Citibank rewards program, which offers 5% bonus on Grocery, Drugstore and gas station purchases and 1% on everything else! Amazon was just added with two gift certificates: $25 Amazon gift certificate for 3,000 points and $50 with 5,000.
What does this mean? _If_ you use this credit card to purchase items only at:
grocery stores
drug stores (anything at the drugstore, including Rx, ice cream, newspaper, etc),
gas, and _if_ you spend $1000 in these stores (over a few days or a few months it doesn't matter), you can get you a $50 Amazon gift certificate! Compare that to a miserable $10 with the 1% cash bonus of other credit cards!
Ideally you should use this $50 Amazon gift certificate to buy the DVD set for Battlestar Galactica Season 1 (currently at $42) ;-)

Super Size Me!
The Factor would like to comment on the scary documentary "Super Size Me". This was a real horror movie! This is your life on McDonalds!
We (not royal "we", voices in my head "we") have also learned some interessting factoids:
there are 83 McDonalds "restaurants" in Manhattan alone (!!)
Detroit and Houston are the fattest cities in the US, with Texas having half of the Top 10
The scientific definition of a "calorie" (amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 1 liter of water by one point).
And for the kinky folks out there, there was a rectal exam by Dr Jelly Finger.

Cranberries, "Wake up and smell the coffee" (and it's not starbucks!)
Coldplay, "XY"

Just outside the Hot 3 we find Dave Matthews Band's "Stand up".

Catching up with other blogs
Be sure to check out the August edition of VWayner's World. Among other things, you will read about Mariah, NHL, QAF, eBay, Jason Mars (intentional mispelling), U2 and Smurfs!
Meanwhile, ThatGuyHeath gives us a mini-review of the book "The Rules", A Man's Guide to Life, by Esquire (the magazine). Of the rules he is mentioning, these two are my favorite:
Rule 581: A PBS tote bag does not make you an intellectual
Rule 578: When you die they will find your porn
At SciFi Daily you can read all sorts of factoids about the latest (and last) Star Wars movie, ROTS.

Bigotry is fun!
There is a religion (who shall remain unnamed) founded on "love thy neighbor" and "help those in need"
Being true to the meaning of "love thy neighbor" a significant number of those people embark on "political crusades" to block gay people from getting married and creating families.
They also condemn gay people for their "hedonistic lifestyle" on Monday and on Tuesday they spend millions of dollars to block any chances for gay people to get legally married and create a family. Bigotry is fun, isn't it?

This is funny: BBC comedy "Little Britain"
Very funny sketch comedy, critically acclaimed and all that. It's hard to describe it, you have to watch it ^__^
Among the recurring (crazy) characters are a few of gay interest:
a self-appointed "only gay guy" in a small Welsh mining town
the Prime Minister's assistant has a big big crush on him
a transvestite "lady"

Strictly Sex with Dr Drew!
In this edition of the new Dr Drew show "Strictly sex" on the Discovery Health Channel we learn that straight men (even the non-homophobic ones) have a primal yet subconcious "threat response" in the brain when shown images of other naked men. Threat response similar to that of seeing a snake or a vicious animal. Women on the other hand do not feel threatened by other naked women.
This is a result of a study done in Atlanta using MRI to monitor the brain while showing test subjects a sequence of 200 photographs, some of sexual nature. This study is only for heterosexual couples so it is not known if gay men have a "threat response" to other naked men ;-) But there is a similar study done in Germany for same sex couples.

It is hard being a photographer these days (Faux Rant)
It is hard being a photographer these days:
If you take pictures of businesses, you are stealing their data/ideas
If you take pictures of people, you are a stalker or a pervert
If you take pictures of buildings, monuments, or mass transit, you are a terrorist.
If you take pictures of children, you are a Michael Jackson.
If you take pictures of houses, you are invading their privacy.
If you take pictures of animals, you are exploiting them.
If you take pictures of plants, you are harming them with the Auto Focus Assist light (aka AF Assist beam/lamp)

UFO Files on the History Channel
Among the reality crapola filling up the airwaves and cable-lines, there is still some quality materials of educational value on TV. For example the History Channel's documentary series "UFO Files", attempting to approach this phenomenom from many different angles. Also of interest at the History Channel is the series "Decoding the Past", featuring among other things a two-parter on the prophecies of Nostradamus, 500 years later.

90-second TV and Movie Reviews!
Zus and Zo: In this delightful German dramedie (IFC/Sundance/Cannes type of movie), three sisters are shocked when their gay brother plans to get married to a female (!). But things are a lot more complicated than that - with many twists. The movie has a dysfunctional happy ending which you (probably) cannot predict.
Jackass, the movie If you paid $8-$10 to watch this movie in a movie theater, well ...ouch! It is funny, shocking and grotesque at times, with male eye candy, but I would not use a free rental coupon on this one. But if you can borrow the DVD or watch it (for free) on TV, then it is essentially an extended episode of MTV's Jackass. Nothing more, nothing less.
Dune, the original movie Make sure you get the special extended edition of this movie. (Yes, an adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune). Quite different from the recent SciFi Channel adaptation, it features Twin Peaks's Kyle McL., and Sting (!) among others. It is long - 4 hours runtime on TV (with commercials). It may not have the production values of the LOTR trilogy but it is a must for SciFi fans.
Thin Blue Line, TV, comedy Set your VCR/TiVos/recorders to capture this 40-minute comedy currently playing on BBC America. Rowan Atkinson "leads" a team of dysfunctional police offers. Need I say more? :)

Dr Drew is back on TV!
Dr Drew, the famous - real doctor - from the radio (and later TV) show "Loveline" is back on TV with his own show on the Discovery Health channel dealing with sexual issues. It is shown at midnight on Wednesday and repeats a couple more times.
It is a very educational show: Just watching one episode I learned that 10,000 men break their pen1s every year. Even though there are no bones, there are three parallel areas that can break and you will hear a crack when one or more break. Deformity and black/blue color will follow and a visit to the hospital/ER becomes a must. Thank Dr Drew for this educational segment ;-)

Comcast $20/mo for six months
New teaser special from Comcast cable broadband for $20/mo for the first 6 months. This is probably in reaction to SBC Yahoo DSL's $15/mo (with 12-month contract).
DSL or Cable??????
